Everwent is a personal travel record. This page says plainly what it keeps, where, and how to get rid of it. There are no ads, no trackers, and nothing is sold or shared.

What the app stores

• Your travel record. The journeys, stays and trips you log or import: places, dates, airlines, flight numbers, notes. It lives on your phone and, once you sign in, on our server so it survives a lost phone and appears on the next one.
• Your account. With Sign in with Apple, the identifier Apple gives us and, if you share it, your name and email. With email sign-in, your email address. Sign-in codes are stored only as a hash and expire in ten minutes.
• Your profile. The name and home city you enter. A profile photo stays on your phone only.
• Usage counts. Daily tallies of which screens are opened and what is added, such as "booklet opened: 2". Names and counts only, never the content of what you logged. These tell us which parts of the app people use.

Where it is stored

On our own server in Amazon Web Services' Canada (Central) region, in an encrypted database with nightly encrypted backups kept for thirty days. Data travels to and from the app over HTTPS.

What the app does not do

• No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
• No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. The usage counts above go only to our server.
• No location tracking. The app never reads your phone's location; every place comes from what you type or import.
• No selling, renting or sharing of your data with anyone.

Maps

Maps, the globe and place search are provided by Apple Maps on your device, under Apple's privacy policy. Route lines for drives are computed by Apple's directions service from the two ends of a journey; nothing else is sent.

Imports

Files you import from Flighty or TripIt are read on your phone. Only the journeys and stays you choose to add become part of your record.

TripIt. If you connect TripIt, we keep the private calendar-feed address you paste and fetch it about once an hour. New items in it are read by OpenAI's API the same way a forwarded email is, and only the extracted bookings are kept until you have reviewed them. Disconnecting in Settings deletes the address.

Forwarded booking emails. If you forward a confirmation email to Everwent, it is received by Amazon SES in the same Canadian region, read once by OpenAI's API to pick out the flights, stays and tickets it names, and then deleted, usually within a minute. OpenAI does not keep or train on what it is sent through the API. We keep only the extracted booking, the email's subject line and the address it came from, until you have looked it over in the app, and we never keep the email itself. If you allow notifications, the app is told through Apple's push service when a forwarded email has been read; that notification carries the email's subject line and nothing else. Emails from an address we can't match to an account are deleted unread, and the sender is told how to link one.

Removing your data

• Sign out (Settings, at the bottom) clears the record from that phone. It stays on the server for when you sign in again.
• Delete account (Settings, at the bottom) removes your account and your record from our server. Backups holding it expire within thirty days.

You can also email us and we will remove it by hand.
